We all know that Omega Optical is THE place to purchase filters. Great quality, competitive pricing - it doesn’t get much better than that.
Unless, of course, you’re an Omega Optical employee.
Nothing beats that.
Today we’d like to take you on a behind the scenes look at what it’s like working at Omega Optical. From the beautiful campus to the exciting work parties, Omega Optical has it all. So… let’s get started.
Mornings at the Delta Campus
Before COVID-19, the majority of our team worked at our world headquarters in Brattleboro, Vermont. At over 30,000 square feet, the Delta Campus was specifically designed to produce optic filters. It is settled into the beautiful VT countryside and surrounded by local businesses - many of which we Omegians take advantage of!
Arriving at the campus in the morning is always a pleasant sight - especially in these fall months! The long drive is lined with trees and different types of foliage, which are now colored beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red. The headquarters itself is a tall wooden building and sits right above a pond. Inside, there are many pieces of art made of optical filters! The artist’s name is Chris Jeffrey. While we are primarily a STEM company, we enjoy seeing our filters utilized in many different ways.
The usual day starts at nine in the morning, but we like to arrive early to enjoy some of the campus’s amenities. My personal favorite is the cafeteria. From lays chips to freshly-made sandwiches, the cafe has it all. It’s the perfect place to make a cup of coffee and chat with coworkers before the day really starts. The long table in the middle of the cafeteria is the best seat in the house - so many of us can fit on the bench!
Afternoons with the Omega Optical Team
The rest of the day depends on what department we all work in. Our R&D team heads over to the lab, our technicians might go work with the coating machine, and we in marketing head upstairs to our desks. The open-concept workspace is both dynamic and collaborative. We share the office with salespeople, engineers, and upper management. It’s easy for us to casually meet throughout the day and we all have our own desk areas to work at - and decorate! I was able to hang up a few posters and put out my succulents before we started working from home.
As the Marketing Content Intern, I usually spend my days writing blog posts, creating templates, and editing flyers. My favorite part of the week is when the marketing department meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It’s great hearing about everyone’s individual projects and there’s always a great takeaway when we brainstorm together. Our meetings used to take place in the conference rooms but now we get to talk over Google Meet. It’s great seeing everyone’s faces!
Getting Local at Lunchtime
Lunch is always the best part of the day - especially because the local country store is only a few miles away! I’m obsessed with their tortellini. We eat in the cafeteria usually and many of us in the marketing department take our break at the same time. This is what I miss most about working in the office.
The rest of the workday usually flies by. Before COVID, I often spent the last few hours of the day responding to emails and frequenting the communal candy jar! There were always great morale boosters in the office - from free pizza to our Valentine’s Day party, the Delta Campus never disappointed. I am looking forward to going back soon!
Working in Optics - The Light at the End of the Tunnel
My favorite part about working at Omega Optical is that every day is different. We are lucky enough to work for an industry that is always evolving, changing, and adapting to the state of the world - so no day looks the same. I am proud to be an Omega Optical employee and am thankful for all the incredible opportunities and friendships I’ve made here. There’s nothing better than working for a company that puts its employees first - although the local mac and cheese comes pretty close!
