Bandpass
Technical and application notes
Omega Optical, Inc. is an innovator in the field of photonics, located in Brattleboro, Vermont. Founded in 1969 by Robert Johnson D.Sc., Omega produces filters for Vision systems that can be applied to robotics, inspection stations or manufacturing process lines for everything from potato sorting to automated pick and place.

Technical and application notes
Omega Optical can manufacture filters from prototype to production. This flyer describes our primary applications, capabilities and how we can guide you to choosing the filter you need.
Patents
US Patent # 6,918,673
Granted July 19, 2005
Inventors: Robert L. Johnson, Natalia Gorawski, Barry O'Dwyer

A hermetic filter assembly which improves filter life and environmental stability. The elimination of optical epoxies in this air-spaced filter results in reduced auto-fluorescence, improved parallelism and flatness, and improved heat tolerance. 3rd Millennium filters were originally based on this technology- currently RapidBand filters are made with a similar technique.

Filter Design
Technical and application notes
To understand blocking, one has to understand the concept of optical density (OD). In an interference filter, OD is generated by reflecting unwanted light back instead of letting it go through the filter.
